Among the many shrines in Nalbari, Shri Shri Hari Mandir is one of the most important Hindu temples in Assam. Sacred to Hindus and Buddhists alike, devotees from neighbouring Bhutan have worshipped here for decades.
Festivals like Janmashtami, Durga Puja, and Mahashivratri draw large crowds. Among them all, Nalbari Raas Mahotsav is the celebration the town is known for.

The Raas Mahotsav
Nalbari Raas Mahotsav
One of India's grandest Krishna festivals, held each Kartika Purnima since 1933.
Known for its grandeur across India, Nalbari Raas Mahotsav celebrates the divinity of Lord Krishna. The festival begins on the full moon night of Kartika when Krishna desires to dance and spread peace in the mortal world.
The wild beauty of Vrindavana comes alive in Hari Mandir during this period. The main puja spot features a spectacular Radha-Krishna idol while the Raaskhola hosts cultural extravaganzas that turn the entire town festive.
Over 13 days in November and December, thousands of Sanatani devotees and tourists gather at this renowned Pragya Nagari. Traditional dance, music, vibrant costumes, and skillful lighting bring Krishna's mythology to life.
