The RaasMahotsav begins every year on the full Moon night of the Kartika/November -the night when Lord Krishna desires to dance and spread the message of peace and happiness in this mortal world. The wild beauty of Vrindavana in the trees, creepers and bushes on the bank of Jamuna become alive in Shri Shri Hari Mandir, Nalbari during this festival period. The premise of Hari Mandir is decked at the Main Puja Spot with a spectacular idol of Radha & Krishna. In addition, numerous temporary stalls decorated with the clay idols with modern electrical technology finds most stylized form in making alive the idols representing a diverse range of events symbolizing Lord Krishna’s life events. Nalbari Raas Mahotsav epitomizes the expression of dancing in delight in reverence of Lord Krishna, symbolizing love, beauty and happiness. This temple has been a tourist attraction for a long period of time. Hari Mandir of Nalbari has been dedicated to Lord Krishna, a form of Lord Vishnu. In recent years Shri Shri Hari Mandir has also become one of the nerve centers of cultural assimilation and spiritual as well as social happenings. The spiritual aura of the temples has made it a calm pilgrimage for the worshipers. The temple is centrally located at the town of Nalbari which makes it extremely easy to visit from any direction.
Occurring over 13 days in November/December (Purnima tithi of Aghon month), it attracts thousands of Sanatani devotees and tourists to the renowned Pragya Nagari (Wisdom Place). The rich mobile theatre group performance is very unique in Nalbari Raas mahotsav . All renound mobile thieatre groups perform their best act and becoming this festival as Thieatre Mahotsav of Assam. Around 10 to 15 mobile theatre groups performed in same time attract large number of audience in Nalbari Raas Mahotsav. Cultural exhibits allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the local culture. The festival is an excellent way to experience Assam's religious heritage and community spirit.
